Vermont virtual consumer protection panel will address ways to protect against scams


May 3, 2021 – The Better Business Bureau (BBB) of Vermont will join the Vermont Attorney General’s Office and AARP Vermont for a virtual forum designed to inform and empower consumers on the latest scam tactics and how best to avoid them. This virtual event will be held on Wednesday, 5/19/21, at 3 PM EST.

“The team at the Vermont Attorney General’s Consumer Assistance Program (CAP) wants consumers to know how to verify a suspicious phone call or email. Bad actors want us to act urgently to their requests and we want consumers to slow down and follow a plan. Call our office or a trusted person, don’t act urgently, take notes and disengage from the actors.” said Lisa P. Jensen, Assistant Director, Vermont Attorney General’s Consumer Assistance Program.
