Upholstery by Ingrid, Ingrid Kirn    


Ingrid Kirn, 59, owns Upholstery by Ingrid. She recovers furniture for residential and small business customers in the Great Lakes Bay Region. She also does slip covers.

Kirn lives in the Bullock Creek area with her husband, Roger King. They met online and have been married for 21 years. Kirn has two stepchildren and one grandchild. King is a retired welder but uses his skills to make welded metal sculptures.

Kirn grew up in Saginaw Township and graduated from Sts. Peter and Paul High School. She earned a bachelor’s in communications disorders at Central Michigan University.

Since 1988.

2. What inspired you to own this business?

My mom and I were working on some of our family projects. It blossomed from there. I like working with my hands. I like combining colors and textures with fabric.
