Rob Manfred whiffs again on Houston’s cheating, Atlanta’s politics


Rob Manfred is in the middle of all of this, whether he wants it or not.

An Astros team that won’t go away and Major League Baseball can’t ignore.

Atlanta’s Braves.

The 2021 World Series.

It’s officially Manfred’s job. His baseball legacy.

But MLB’s commissioner whiffed big again before Game 1 of this Fall Classic inside the stadium of the franchise that he punished for cheating less than two years ago.

“I’m going to say it one more time: I’m looking forward to a great World Series,” Manfred said on Tuesday evening at Minute Maid Park.

That’s incredibly weak and disappointing, especially considering that Manfred went out of his way in 2020 to tell every baseball fan across the globe just how tough he was on the cheating Astros.
