ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) –If you’ve taken a recent look at your retirement portfolio, you’ve probably noticed it’s taken a big hit the past week.

U-S stock benchmarks skidded lower as oil prices surged and many are worried about the escalating fighting between Russia and Ukraine.

Millions of Americans have their lives tied to the stock market through avenues like a 401-K retirement plan.

As the roller coaster ride gets more precarious, financial advisors say it’s important to not overreact and keep thinking about the long term. They say continue to contribute to your plan or you might miss out on employer-matching programs. And resist the urge to try to “time” the market and buy into the “dip”.
