New technology brings new life to exhibits at Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery – The Science Show

Hobart’s Museum and Art Gallery has a new director, Mary Mulcahy. Mary and curator David Hocking describe some of the new approaches that come with new technology. In research, DNA can be extracted from specimens collected 100 years ago. Pollen can be retrieved from items locked in cabinets for decades. And for the public, digitisation allows skeletons to be examined in three dimensions without physical contact, both at the museum and remotely.
