The S&P BSE Sensex hovered around 52,170 levels, up 80 points, and the Nifty50 index traded above the 15,700-mark. Bajaj Finance fell over 4 per cent and was the top Sensex laggard, followed by Bajaj Finserv (down 3%). On the other hand, ONGC ticked up over 1 per cent.
All the Nifty sectoral indices, except Nifty Financial Services, were painted green, led by Nifty Auto index, up 1 per cent.
The broader markets, meanwhile, outperformed their benchmark peers, with the S&P BSE MidCap and SmallCap indices ruling 0.8 per cent higher, each.
