Line between politics and government blurred in Marbletown – Daily Freeman

The results of the Nov. 2 election in Marbletown show that Supervisor Richard Parete and Town Board member Don LaFera were re-elected.

During the campaign, I received in the mail a tri-fold campaign flyer for the candidates Parete, LaFera and Ken Davenport (a non-incumbent). The return address was Supervisor Parete’s home.

Subsequent to receiving this campaign flyer, and just eight days before Election Day, I received in the mail from the town of Marbletown the “Newsletter, Fall 2021”. This “Newsletter” mainly promoted the Town Board’s actions over the last two years. This was the first so-called “Newsletter” that I received from the town government since Parete became supervisor four years ago.

I noticed that nearly two-thirds of the language on the last page of the “Newsletter” – duplicated exactly – the language used in the previously mailed tri-fold campaign flyer. To me, this clearly shows the “Newsletter”…
