Law enforcement warning about FEMA ‘application fee’ scam – WFTV

ORLANDO, Fla. — As the clean up from Hurricane Ian continues, local law enforcement agencies are warning people not to fall for a scam targeting people filing FEMA or insurance claims.

Orange County deputies said some people reported being asked for an “application fee” for FEMA or insurance reimbursement.

Deputies warn that this is a scam, and FEMA and insurance providers will never ask for a fee to process your claim.

If someone does ask you for a fee, deputies said you should call the attorney general’s fraud hotline at 1-866-966-7226 or online here.
