‘It’s a Weird Crime’: South Florida Homeowner Claims Scammers Are Trying to Sell Her Properties

Real estate deed fraud can be hard to detect, and with more title companies and realtors transferring documents for a property sale electronically due to COVID-19, deed scams are reportedly on the rise in South Florida.

An Aventura title insurance company claims it was scammed out of $230,000 after someone posed as an 86-year-old Coral Gables woman and fraudulently sold her property to an unsuspecting buyer.
