The High Court on Monday censured the government for its delay in taking actions against banks, non-banking financial institutions and multi-level marketing companies involved in alleged fraudulence and embezzlement of deposits of clients.
‘Cases are lodged after stealing. But stealing is continuing. Why is public money being looted and going abroad? We want to know who is responsible for stopping these,’ said an online bench of Abu Taher Md Saifur Rahman and Md Zakir Hossain while hearing a writ petition.
The petition was filed by Supreme Court lawyer Syed Sayedul Haque Suman on September 7 challenging the legality of charging marginal farmers high interests on unofficial loans offered by village moneylenders.
