Collier County Sheriff’s Office reminds citizens to lock their cars

For many in Naples, there is the belief they are living, working and vacationing in one of the safer cities in the country.

While Collier County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Tom Orr said the perception is warranted thanks to his agency’s constant vigilance, he added it can work against citizens who let their guard down by leaving valuables in plain sight in their vehicles.

 Tempting fate can result in a loss no matter what city you live in, Orr explained.

That’s why Orr and his North Naples community-oriented policing unit were out Thursday at the Galleria Shoppes at Vanderbilt reminding citizens shopping center plazas are where car burglaries are most likely to happen.
