Cape Cod real estate market booms and breaks records, reports show


The Cape Cod real estate market just keeps on booming.

The volume of overall real estate sales on Cape Cod was up 46.4% last month from the April 2020 volume, and the total value of sales was up 81.4% from last year, according to an announcement last week from Barnstable County Register of Deeds John Meade.

And records continued to be set through April on the median sale price for single-family homes. Increases range from almost 17% in Bourne to an eye-popping 74.5% in Chatham in the first four months of this year compared to the same period in 2020, according to data from the Cape Cod & Islands Association of Realtors.

The median real-estate sale price in April was $519,950 on the Cape, based on all property sales valued above $50,000, Meade said. That’s up from the $400,500 median sale price of property in Barnstable County from April 2020.
