NEW DELHI: Union minister Nitin Gadkari on Saturday batted for giving protection to contractors and engineers trying new technologies, if they meet with failure due to bonafide reasons. He said this was necessary to promote innovation in construction technologies.
Addressing a webinar on Bridge Deck Erection Technology, Gadkari said there is huge hesitation in the government system to adopt new technologies and promote innovations in execution of projects.
“If there is an accident in the execution of projects by people who are using new technologies, carrying out experiments and using good successful practices, we need to support them only when the bonafides are not doubtful… None wants to take responsibility for innovation and research, so how can we expect these to happen. Negative approach, particularly in the government system, creates negativity,” Gadkari said.
