The U.S. stock market fell in the first hour of trading Wednesday, as Target (TGT) retreated but Lowe’s (LOW) and TJX Cos. (TJX) climbed following earnings reports.

Stock market indexes tried to bounce off session lows around 10 a.m. ET.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.3%. JPMorgan Chase (JPM) dipped below its 50-day moving average but remains above its most recent buy point at 163.93.
The S&P 500 and the Nasdaq composite lost 0.2%. Small caps lagged as the Russell 2000 slid nearly 1%.
Volume was lower on the Nasdaq and higher on the NYSE compared with the same time on Tuesday.
