Scam email targets Spark customers

When 68-year-old Pip Taylor​ recieved an email from “Spark” asking her to update her password she knew something was up.

The email asked her​ to follow a link to update her email address.

But Taylor’s​ husband thought to call Spark to double-check if the email was legitimate before they clicked on anything.

Spark confirmed that the email was fraudulent, and was a common phishing scam.

Phishing emails “fish” for information by tricking people into give them personal information.

Taylor​ said she hoped that Spark could find a way to catch the scammers.

“I just was horrified thinking how many people might have fallen for this scam. There are vulnerable people sitting in lockdown and bored checking their emails. The criminals were clever to send it out now aren’t…
