AVON LAKE, Ohio — The City of Avon Lake has been building a reputation for supporting small businesses. They are doing it again with funds from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA).
Small businesses in the city can apply now for up to $2,500 each to cover business expenses. The city is calling the program “Support Our Avon Lake.”
The ARPA dollars will fund the city’s 2021 Small Business COVID-19 Relief Grant as was done last year, said Avon Lake Economic Development Director Ted Esborn. The city’s commitment to the program is $150,000, he noted.
As was the case with the small business grant program in 2020, Esborn said, “This program will be administered once again through the Lorain County Chamber of Commerce with the help of the Small Business Development Center.
“Last year’s program awarded 40 grants of $2,500 to Avon Lake small businesses. This year’s funding will allow for 60 grants of the same size — or more, if not all the grants…
