(RTTNews) - The China stock market has climbed higher in four straight sessions, gathering almost 75 points or 2.3 percent along the way. The Shanghai Composite Index now sits just above the 3,410-point plateau and it may find additional strength again on Tuesday. The global forecast for the Asian markets is upbeat on Covid-19 vaccine optimism. The European markets were slightly lower and the U.S. bourses were higher and the Asian markets figure to at least open in the green, although some profit taking may occur as the session progresses. The SCI finished sharply higher on Monday following gains from the resource stocks, financial shares and property stocks. For the day, the index advanced 36.76 points or 1.09 percent to finish at 3,414.49 after trading between 3,377.99 and 3,431.65. The Shenzhen Composite Index added 12.45 points or 0.54 percent to end at 2,301.96. Thomas Moyer, the executive, was indicted, along with Rick Sung, the second-in-command at the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office, and Sheriff's Capt. James Jensen. The Mercury News first reported the indictment. Jensen had previously been charged on separate counts of felony bribery and conspiracy in connection with a plan to reelect Sheriff Laurie Smith in 2018. WASHINGTON (REUTERS) - US President-elect Joe Biden will nominate Mr Alejandro Mayorkas to become US secretary of homeland security, Mr Biden's transition team said on Monday (Nov 23), entrusting the Cuban immigrant to help reverse outgoing President Donald Trump's hard-line immigration policies. Mr Mayorkas, a former federal prosecutor in California, served as deputy secretary at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) under President Barack Obama when Mr Biden was vice-president. Mr Mayorkas became one of Mr Biden's first Cabinet selections as the Democratic former vice-president prepares to take office on Jan 20. If confirmed by the US Senate, Mr Mayorkas would become the first Latino and first foreign-born leader of the sprawling department created in the aftermath of the Sept 11, 2001, attacks on the United States. DHS, with about 240,000 employees, is responsible for border security, immigration enforcement, cybersecurity, disaster readiness and relief, and encompasses the US Coast Guard and Secret Service.
