$1 million budget rejection astounds veteran homebuyers – Silicon Valley

Q: We’ve relocated to the Bay Area and are trying to buy a property. We are preapproved with a Silicon Valley credit union for an $800,000 to $1,000,000 price range. The first highly rated agent we wanted to hire said, “Your price point is too low.” The second highly rated agent kept insisting we use her lender to “get the price up.” The third seasoned agent agreed to be our agent during a Zoom meeting. However, he delegated us to an underling licensee working on his “team” of 12 people. We have bought and sold five single-family homes throughout the country.  We understand we have to buy a townhouse in this expensive market. We do not understand real estate agents looking down on the potential of a $1,000,000 sale. Normally, we had real estate agents line up to represent us when we sold our home, had cash in the bank and were renting month-to-month. How do we get a competent real estate agent to represent us as homebuyers in this crazy…
